Tata August 2025 Sales: Nexon Shines, Punch Faces Dip

If you are a Tata fan, the August 2025 sales report brings some mixed emotions. While some models performed brilliantly and kept the brand’s flag flying high, a few others lost ground due to rising competition. Let’s take a simple look at how Tata cars did last month.

Overall Sales Picture

In August 2025, Tata Motors sold 41,001 units across India. This was 7% lower YoY compared to August 2024 (44,142 units). But the positive side is that compared to July 2025 (39,521 units), Tata saw a 4% growth – showing that momentum is slowly picking up again.

Nexon – The Star Performer

Nexon

The Nexon continued to lead the charge and remained Tata’s best-selling car.

  1. August 2025: 14,004 units
  2. August 2024: 12,289 units
  3. Growth: +14% YoY and +9% MoM

Clearly, Nexon’s popularity in the compact SUV segment is still very strong, and demand is steady.

Punch – Feeling the Heat

Punch

The Punch did not have a great month and faced a big drop.

  1. August 2025: 10,704 units
  2. August 2024: 15,643 units
  3. Decline: -32% YoY and -1% MoM

Rising competition in the entry-level SUV market seems to have dented Punch’s numbers.

Tiago and Altroz – Small Cars, Strong Results

Tiago and Altroz

Tata’s hatchbacks showed a mixed but interesting performance.

  1. Tiago: 5,250 units (+11% YoY, -6% MoM)
  2. Altroz: 3,959 units (+31% YoY, +1% MoM)

While Tiago slipped a little compared to last month, Altroz stood out with an impressive 31% yearly growth.

Tigor and Curvv – Facing Challenges

Curvv

  1. Tigor: 805 units (-30% YoY, -17% MoM)
  2. Curvv: 1,703 units (-51% YoY, -15% MoM)

Both these models are struggling at the moment, especially the new Curvv coupe SUV, which has not yet found stable traction in the market.

Harrier and Safari – Big SUVs Holding Strong

Harrier

Tata’s larger SUVs put up a solid show.

  1. Harrier: 3,087 units (+63% YoY, +39% MoM)
  2. Safari: 1,489 units (-24% YoY, +20% MoM)

The Harrier emerged as the biggest gainer this month, while Safari also bounced back compared to July 2025.

Final Take – Tata’s Festive Season Hopes

Even though Tata’s overall sales dropped 7% compared to last year, the month-on-month growth signals a positive trend. With GST 2.0 price cuts and the upcoming festive demand, Tata Motors is expected to regain momentum in the coming months.
